Information on rail, bus, and parking ridership from Metro's fare system is available from the links below as interactive online dashboards. Bus and rail data is from 2010 to present, parking data is from 2012 to present and is updated approximately monthly on a 30-day lag. Ridership Snapshots present a high-level overview of trends by month, and technical notes explain more details about the data.
COVID19 Ridership Monitoring
The table below shows daily updates on PRELIMINARY rail and bus ridership starting March 2, 2020. Ridership is compared to the equivalent calendar day in 2019. This information is subject to re-statement as late data emerges and as we seek the best method to measure ridership in a rapidly-changing situation. WMATA reserves the right to restate this data, and the information is not suitable for auditing or financial reporting purposes.

Rail data are entries measured at faregates. Bus data are boardings, estimated using information from both the Automatic Passenger Counters and bus farebox data. These composite bus ridership estimates are subject to higher levels of uncertainty than the rail data, and are not comparable to other sources, and not immediately available for all dates in the table above.
