Earlier this month we published a blog full of historic King-St Old Town Station photos. This week we're featuring Eisenhower Ave Station, which was constructed in the late 1970s/early 1980s and opened on December 17, 1983. The Yellow Line itself had only begun operations earlier that year between Gallery Place-Chinatown and National Airport stations. This station features Metro’s original “gull-wing” canopy design, which as you can guess resembles the wings of a seagull. As you click through the photos on this page you will see late-stage station construction work as well as photos of customers in the early 2000s.
