Pre-Inauguration Metrobus Impacts on January 19

In preparation for Inauguration Day, a number of streets at and around the National Mall area will begin to be closed on Thursday, January 19. These closures may begin at any time on Thursday, with some being as early as the beginning of the Metrobus service day, often between 4:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
When a street is closed, Metrobus will need to change how a route is operating. One of four service patterns will be implemented:
- Detour - travel around the closed area for a portion of the normal bus route
- Split - operate in two segments
- Truncate - operate in one segment for a portion of the usual route
- Not operate - no service will be provided on this route
Due to the highly flexible nature of these street closures,
Metro advises customers to plan as if their route has been changed prior traveling and use Metrorail when possible.
