Friendship Heights Bus Loop Repavement Project

Advisory Effective: 12/4/23 - 3/1/24

En Español

On December 18, 2023, the bus loop at Friendship Heights Station will close for approximately two months for concrete repavement. The concrete in the bus loop area has deteriorated, resulting in numerous cracks, broken concrete sections and damaged curbs. During the closure, Metrobus, Ride On, and other bus service routes located inside the loop will be temporarily relocated. These repairs will return the bus loop to a state of good repair. The closure of the bus loop will allow us to complete the concrete repairs in the most efficient and quickest timeframe.

How will this work affect my trip?

Throughout construction, all bus services will continue operations. However, bus bays C, D, E, F, G and H will be relocated. The temporary bus stop locations will be established along Western Avenue and 44th Street for Metrobus routes 31, 33, N2, N4, and N6 and Ride On bus routes 1, 11, 23, and 29. Follow all posted signs for the temporary bus stop locations. Bus bays J and K located on the exterior of the facility will not be impacted. The Friendship Heights station and all entrances will remain open.

For ease of access to the temporary boarding locations, please use the following station entrance/exit locations:

Wisconsin Avenue & Western Avenue
Metrobus Routes– 31, 33, N2, N4 and N6
Ride On Routes – 1, 11, 23 and 29

Western Avenue & Military Road (Bus Bay J)
Friendship Heights Village Shuttle

For more information on temporary bus stop locations and accessibility, see map.
