Weekend Metrorail service for Saturday, March 6 through Sunday, March 7

Summary of  weekend service for Saturday, March 6 through Sunday, March 7:

During the weekend of Saturday, March 6 through Sunday, March 7, Metrorail will operate from 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. on Saturday and 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. on Sunday. Trains will serve 89 of 91 stations, with scheduled service adjustments on the Red and Yellow lines. 

Due to the Platform Improvement Project, Arlington Cemetery and Addison Rd stations closed, with no Blue Line service through May 23. Additional Yellow Line service will operate between Franconia-Springfield and National Airport only. Free shuttle buses will be provided to/from the closed stations.

Highlights: 

Red Line Trains every 18 minutes.  

Blue Line No train service. Additional Yellow Line service will operate between Franconia-Springfield and National Airport only.

Orange Line Silver Line Trains every 15-20 minutes.

Yellow Line Trains every 20 minutes operating in two segments: Huntington - Greenbelt and Franconia-Springfield - National Airport.

Green Line Trains every 15-20 minutes. 

Under federal law and for your safety and the safety of others, customers are required to wear face masks while traveling on Metro. 


Red Line Red Line

  • Trains operate every 18 minutes. 
  • Due to radio cable installation:
    • Single tracking between Van Ness and Friendship Heights.

Blue Line Blue Line

  • Due to Platform Improvement Project:
    • No Blue Line service. Franconia-Springfield and Van Dorn St stations will be served by Additional Yellow Line service operating between Franconia-Springfield and National Airport.
    • For travel to/from Virginia and Downtown DC customers may transfer at King St-Old Town, Braddock Rd or National Airport.
    • Arlington Cemetery Station closed. Free shuttles provided between Rosslyn, Arlington Cemetery and Pentagon. View wmata.com/platforms for additional travel alternatives.

Orange Line Orange Line 

  • Trains operate every 15-20 minutes.

Silver Line Silver Line

  • Trains operate every 15-20 minutes.  
  • Due to Platform Improvement Project:
    • Addison Rd station closed. Trains will pass through the station without stopping. Free shuttle buses provided between Capitol Heights and Addison Rd. View wmata.com/platforms for additional travel alternatives.

Yellow Line Yellow Line

  • Trains operate every 20 minutes in two segments: Huntington to Greenbelt and Franconia-Springfield to National Airport.
  • Due to grout pad replacement: 
    • Single tracking between Pentagon City and L'Enfant Plaza. 

Green Line Green Line

  • Trains operate every 15-20 minutes.
