Temporary Detour: Service Changes due to Planned Demonstrations near National Mall and White House, June 13-14

Routes Affected: 30N, 30S, 54, 70, S4, X2
Due to ongoing First Amendment activity (Black Lives Matter/anti-police brutality demonstrations) near the White House and National Mall, Metrobus service in the area may be detoured or turned back prior to completing the route. Detours and turnbacks are subject to change. Sign up for metroAlerts to receive updates or changes affecting your route. Customers are encouraged to allow additional travel time and use Metrorail if possible.
This weekend, buses will operate on the “Covid-19 Saturday/Sunday Schedule,” with limited service on 27 routes only. Bus service ends at 11 p.m. All other routes do not operate. Check schedules for arrival times.
Important Information for Metrobus Customers
- If you are not feeling well, do not use public transportation. Call your medical provider and arrange for special transportation.
- Buses have limited space and social distancing cannot be guaranteed. Bus operators may bypass stops if the bus becomes too full.
- Please use buses and trains for essential trips only. By limiting your trips, you make space available for others.
- Wearing a cloth face covering or mask is required aboard buses, trains, and in stations.
- Use the rear door to get on or off the bus. Customers with disabilities or who need the bus to “kneel” should use the front door.

Routes 30N and 30S will operate in two segments.
30N, 30S Friendship Heights-Southeast
Buses will operate between Friendship Heights Metrorail station and a temporary bus stop located on Massachusetts Ave NW at Florida Ave (stop ID# 1001520).
30N, 30S Friendship Heights-Southeast
Buses will operate between Naylor Rd and Southern Ave Metrorail stations and a temporary bus stop located on Independence Ave SW at New Jersey Ave (stop ID# 1000734).
54 14th Street
Buses will operate between Takoma Metrorail station and a bus stop located on 14th St NW at N St (stop ID# 1001360).
S4 16th Street
Buses will operate between the Paul S. Sarbanes Transit Center (Silver Spring Metrorail station) and a bus stop located on 16th St NW at P St (stop ID# 1002880).
X2 Benning Rd-H Street
Buses will operate between Minnesota Ave Metrorail station and a bus stop located on H St NW at North Capitol St (stop ID# 1001135).
The following route will detour:
70 Georgia Avenue-7th Street northbound toward Silver Spring
Buses beginning service at a temporary bus stop located on 7th St NW at N St (stop ID# 1001369), resuming regular route along northbound 7th St NW.
70 Georgia Avenue-7th Street southbound toward Archives
Buses begin detouring on Rhode Island Ave NW at 7th St, ending service at a temporary bus stop on 7th St NW at N St (stop ID# 1001369).
