Fort Totten Escalator Replacement

Advisory Effective: 3/18/24 - 8/31/24

En Español

On March 18, 2024, Metro will begin a major capital project replacing two platform escalators at Fort Totten Station. The two escalators were initially scheduled for rehabilitation but will now be replaced with brand-new ones that are more durable.

How will this work affect my trip?

Two of the four escalators to the upper level platform at Fort Totten Station will be replaced simultaneously. During construction, customers should use the two escalators on the opposite end of the platform, which will not be impacted.

The station entrance, elevator, and escalators to the lower level platform will remain open throughout construction.

How long will the project take?

The replacement of both escalators is expected to be completed in summer 2024.

How can I stay informed about the project?

Metro is investing in our system to provide safer, more reliable access to Fort Totten. The escalators are being installed as part of an ongoing Escalator Replacement Project to replace 130 escalators across the Metrorail system by 2028.
