Dupont Circle Escalator Replacement
Advisory Effective: 3/4/24 - 10/31/25
On March 4, 2024, Metro will begin a major capital project replacing three entrance escalators at Dupont Circle’s north entrance at Connecticut Avenue and Q Street NW. The three escalators will be replaced with brand-new ones that are more durable and reliable. The escalators are being installed as part of an ongoing project to replace 130 escalators across the Metrorail system by 2028.
How will this work affect my trip?
Escalators at Connecticut Avenue and Q Street NW will be replaced one at a time. While one escalator is being replaced the remaining two escalators will be operational with one escalator going up and one going down.
The entrances, elevator at Connecticut Avenue and Q Street NW, and the elevator from the mezzanine to the platform will remain open throughout construction.
How long will the project take?
The replacement of all three escalators is expected to be completed in fall 2025.
