Temporary Detour: South Capitol Street Project, July 27

Routes Affected: W4

Buses will detour nightly, from 8 pm to 5 am. 

Street Closure: 

  • Firth Sterling Avenue SE between S. Capitol Street and Elizabeth Avenue 
The following routes will detour: 

A4 Anacostia-Fort Drum northbound towards Coast Guard Headquarters 

Buses begin detouring from Bus Bay L at Anacostia Metrorail station, resuming regular route on Martin Luther King Jr Ave SE at Howard Rd. 

A4 Anacostia-Fort Drum southbound towards Anacostia Metrorail station 

Buses will end service at Bus Bay L at Anacostia Metroail station. 

W4 Deanwood-Alabama Avenue northbound towards Deanwood Metrorail station 

Buses begin detouring on Howard Rd SE at Anacostia Metrorail station roadway, resuming regular route on Randle Pl SE at Alabama Ave. 

W4 Deanwood-Alabama Avenue southbound towards Anacostia Metrorail station 

Buses begin detouring on Martin Luther King Jr Ave SE at Malcolm X Ave, ending service at Anacostia Metrorail station. 

As the region reopens and ridership increases, appropriate social distancing may not be possible. Customers are reminded that face coverings are required when traveling on Metro.
