Synopsis

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (“WMATA”) seeks to lease Print Shop Production Printers, Supplies and Related Services to provide support for the day- to-day print shop operation and the mass customer demand Print Shop Division located at the Stone Straw Facility. The new digital high production press, which will replace the Sanden Web, Komori 26”, and possibly any other legacy units, is to be installed in the new Printing Facility as designated below sometime in late fall of 2017 based upon a schedule proposed by the winning vendor and approved by WMATA’s Print Shop manager. Immediately prior to installation of the Inkjet Digital press, the Komori 26” is to be removed by the selected vendor. The Sanden web will need to be removed after the installation of the new digital inkjet press at the new facility in late fall 2017.

The expected term of the lease agreement for Inkjet Digital press is five (5) years to include one (1) base year, and four (4) option year periods. WMATA PRINT SHOP: The lease for the demand Print Shop equipment and services is for five (5) years to include one (1) base year, and four one year option periods for the Print Shop located at the Stone Straw Facility. The successful vendor will replace existing legacy printing equipment currently located at WMATA’s Print Shop located at Stone Straw. The Print Shop has identified two (2) high production systems as part of their replacement programming.

The successful vendor shall remove trade-in equipment from the existing Print Shop location or onsite once the new equipment is installed and operational at the new print shop location (10201 Good Luck Rd., Greenbelt, MD). The vendor shall remove only the trade-in model with the serial numbers as specified on the order – or as designated by WMATA’s Print Shop management team. The successful vendor shall not remove other equipment without prior written approval from WMATA’s print shop.

Although subject to the same maintenance repair services as other Authority-wide equipment, the Print Shop equipment needs are herein treated as a distinct group and will need all consumables as part of the agreement. The purchase of consumable supplies for the Print Shop is also herein treated as part of the Inkjet contract – separate from the MDF equipment. Additionally, the successful vendor must have considerable experience in the Ink Jet business.

The successful vendor(s) will not only offer Inkjet Digital Production Press, software, and support as stated in this Scope of Work (SOW), they shall be able to meet the implementation deadline with a clearly articulated plan for installation, deployment, and training on the new high production press, support of the mass print machines, and be willing to work with WMATA and the incumbent vendors to retire current hardware and install requisite software.

A pre-bid conference will not be held. Your company’s bid must be submitted in accordance with the IFB’s terms and delivered to WMATA’s, Office of Procurement and Materials, 600 Fifth Street, NW, Room 3C-02, Washington, DC 20001-2651, no later than 2:00 p.m. on 4/19/17.
