Metro reminds customers of weekend service adjustments and late-night single tracking next week

Metro is reminding customers to plan ahead for scheduled service adjustments on several Metrorail lines this weekend, and for late-night single tracking that will reduce train frequencies on the Blue, Orange, and Silver lines next Monday through Thursday after 10 p.m.

This weekend

On the Red Line, trains will single track between Twinbrook and Shady Grove while crews perform crosstie renewal and surfacing. Trains will run every 10 minutes between Grosvenor and Glenmont and every 20 minutes between Grosvenor and Shady Grove.

On the Green Line, trains will single track between Mt. Vernon Sq and U Street while crews replace platform edge lighting. Trains on the Green and Yellow lines will operate every 12 minutes.

On the Orange and Silver lines, free shuttle buses will replace trains from Ballston to Clarendon on Sunday during a planned emergency exercise that will close Virginia Square – GMU Station from system opening until approximately 2 p.m. During the exercise, Silver Line trains will run every 12 minutes between Ashburn and Ballston. Customers should transfer to a free shuttle for connections to/from the Orange Line to continue their trip. Orange Line trains will run every 12 minutes in two segments during the emergency exercise: from Vienna to Ballston and from Clarendon to New Carrollton. More information on the emergency exercise is available here

Blue Line service will operate normally this weekend.

Blue / Orange / Silver single tracking next week

From Monday, December 4 through Thursday, December 7, Blue, Orange, and Silver Line trains will single track from Foggy Bottom to Clarendon / Arlington Cemetery from 10 p.m. until the system closes while crews perform rail replacement and other maintenance. During this time, Blue, Orange, and Silver line trains will operate every 26 minutes. Silver Line trains will run from Ashburn to Ballston only during this time.
