Metrorail will operate normal or near normal service on the Blue Plus, Orange and Green lines and trains will operate to all 97 stations with one hour of extended service sponsored by the Washington Commanders for their game against the New York Giants on Sunday, December 18. View here for more details.

During the weekend, Metro crews will be working on the Red Line between Glenmont and Forest Glen to replace the switch in the interlocking that allows trains to transfer from one track to another. Additional work will take place in the Glenmont Rail Yard to replace track feeder cables.

On the Blue and Silver lines, work continues on Metro's systemwide upgrades to its emergency radio communications system. Crews will need to access the track to install fiber optic cables and the associated infrastructure.

The work will require single tracking, with minor impacts to stations outside of the work zones.

Major capital infrastructure improvements continue on the Yellow Line Tunnel and Bridge Rehabilitation Project over the Potomac River to replace the steel liner in the decades old tunnel and repair the bridge due to excessive wear, corrosion and water infiltration issues. Construction will continue through May 2023 with no Yellow Line service over the bridge. Instead, Yellow Line stations will be served by additional Blue Plus and Green Line trains.
