Shutdown from NoMa-Gallaudet U to Rhode Island Ave
This weekend, Metrorail will serve 97 of 97 stations with scheduled fiber-optic cable installation for emergency radio and signal systems on the Red Line. At stations served by multiple lines in the central core of the system, trains will arrive on average every 3-4 minutes.
Through May 2023 the Yellow Line Bridge over the Potomac River is closed for construction as part of the Yellow Line Tunnel and Bridge Rehabilitation Project to replace the steel liner in the decades old tunnel and repair the bridge due to excessive wear, corrosion and water infiltration issues. Yellow Line stations will be served by additional Blue Plus and Green Line trains instead.
Service Information:
Red Line
- Trains every 10 minutes between Shady Grove and NoMa-Gallaudet U; and every 10 minutes between Rhode Island Ave and Glenmont.
Scheduled maintenance & service adjustments
Shutdown due to fiber-optic cable installation:
- Rhode Island Ave shutdown, and only one platform available at NoMa-Gallaudet U.
- If traveling downtown, you can transfer to the Green Line at Fort Totten or Gallery Place.
- Shuttle bus service provided between NoMa-Gallaudet U and Rhode Island Ave.
Blue Line
- Trains operate every 15 minutes.
+ Blue Plus
- Trains operate every 15 minutes.
Orange Line
- Trains operate every 15 minutes.
Silver Line
- Trains operate every 15 minutes.
No Yellow Line train service through May 2023. Yellow Line
Due to the Yellow Line Tunnel and Bridge Rehabilitation Project:
- Yellow Line stations will be served by the Blue Plus or Green lines instead.
- Blue Plus service will operate between Huntington and New Carrollton.
- Additional Green Line service will operate between Branch Ave and Greenbelt.
Green Line
- Trains operate every 8 minutes.
