Metro adjusted its Inauguration Day service plans since events have been moved indoors due to frigid temperatures.
Service Information
- Getting to Capital One Arena: UPDATED -- For Monday's event, Secret Service announced a new security checkpoint entrance late Sunday night. The new location to get into the Arena is at 4th and H St. NW. Customers can take Metro to nearby stations including Judiciary Square on the Red Line or Metro Center on the Blue, Orange, Silver, or Red lines.
- Metrorail will operate from 5 a.m. until midnight on Inauguration Day. Last train times vary by station; please make sure to check the specific station pages or view additional Metrorail service information.
- Metrobus will run on a Saturday Supplemental schedule. A number of detours will impact travel. Check timetables for schedule information and view the temporary detours for details (DC detour maps and details, Virginia detour maps and details).
- On Inauguration Day, MetroAccess will operate its regular schedule; subscription trips will be cancelled.

Fares
- Everyone who rides Metro needs a SmarTrip card, whether it's a physical card or in your mobile wallet. Avoid lines by going mobile and pre-loading your fare using SmarTrip in mobile wallet.
- Children: Up to two children (age 4 and younger) can ride free with each fare-paying adult; children aged 5 and older pay regular fare.
- One-way rail fares range from $2.25 - $6.75 depending on the distance traveled. Consider the easier 1-Day Unlimited Pass option for $13.50. This includes unlimited rides on bus and rail.
- Normal parking fees apply on Inauguration Day ($3 - $5.20 depending on the location). Add enough value on your SmarTrip card to pay for parking upon exit.

The limited edition 2025 Inaugural SmarTrip card is SOLD OUT at all Metrorail stations. This includes the limited number of commemorative cards that were made available at Metro Center.
