Metro, Fivesquares Development, and NexCore Group break ground on a new senior living community in Montgomery County

A new senior living community is coming to Grosvenor-Strathmore. Metro, in partnership with Fivesquares Development and Experience Senior Living—a wholly owned subsidiary of NexCore Group—celebrated the ceremonial groundbreaking of The Reserve Strathmore Square on Dec. 10, to mark the start of construction for the new development.

When complete, the 20-story community will feature 220 residences, ground-floor retail, and a prominent location fronting a new civic green. The project will be developed by NexCore Group and Experience Senior Living will operate the community.

The Reserve Strathmore Square represents the second phase of the award-winning Strathmore Square; the six-phase master planned, transit-oriented community envisioned and developed by Fivesquares Development. The first phase, a two-building development consisting of 220 apartment units was completed in Fall 2024. As designed, the entire master planned community – known as Strathmore Square - will bring 2,120 residential units and 131,000 square feet of retail space to the area.

Metro and its partners have completed 59 joint developments at 32 stations. These joint developments generate $220 million in annual tax revenue to the region. There remains future development potential that could add an additional $300 million in annual tax revenue to the region.
