Fare Changes
Fare changes took effect on June 30, 2024, which helps keep prices in line with inflation and allows us to keep running our current service.

Effective June 30, 2024.
Metrorail
Weekdays:
- 12.5% increase
- $2.25 base
- $6.75 max fare
Late night/weekend:
- 12.5-25% increase
- $2.25 to $2.50 depending on distance traveled
Metrobus:
- 12.5% increase
- $2.25 fare
- $4.80 express fare
MetroAccess:
- $4.50 cap
Parking:
- No change to parking fees
Pass Products:
- Pass products will also increase.

Effective June 16, 2024.
- No service reductions
- Changes to 31 Metrobus routes to improve on-time performance and expand service

Holiday service level reductions: Sunday service levels on Thanksgiving and Christmas.


Metro Lift offers 50% off Metrobus and Metrorail trips for DC, Maryland, and Virginia customers enrolled in SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program).
Enrollment is free and takes as little as 5 minutes at wmata.com/metrolift.

Seniors and customers with a Reduced Fare Photo ID card are also entitled to:
- 50% off the 7-Day Regional Bus Pass
- A discounted fare on regional bus service providers that accept the SmarTrip card
