Metrobus service changes in the District of Columbia begin September 24

Service changes on Metrobus will be implemented on 14 lines in the District of Columbia beginning September 24. The changes are in response to customer requests and will improve service reliability and improve transfer connections between buses and trains. Some service will be discontinued due to low numbers of riders. Cost savings associated with the elimination of some routes will be reinvested on other Metrobus routes to improve service reliability and reduce crowding.

In addition, Metrobus will run regular weekday service on Columbus Day, Veterans Day (observed), Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Presidents Day.

5B D.C.-Tysons Corner Line
The 5B will be discontinued.

5A D.C.-Dulles Line
On weekdays, buses will run every 40 minutes to alleviate crowding, and two buses will be added to the weekday schedule. One bus will leave L’Enfant Plaza at 4:50 a.m. and the other bus will leave Dulles Airport at 5:50 a.m.

52, 53, 54 14th Street Line
Additional buses will run in the evenings to reduce crowding. At night between 10:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m., buses will run every 10 to 15 minutes during the week, every 15 minutes on Saturdays and every 20 minutes on Sundays.

70 Georgia Avenue-7th Street Line
On Saturdays, buses will run every 10 minutes to reduce crowding.

80 North Capitol Street Line
Late Friday night buses that leave Fort Totten station at 12:31 a.m. and the Kennedy Center at 1:25 a.m. will run every weeknight.

The following bus service will be discontinued: Friday night buses from Fort Totten station at 1:01, 1:31 and 2:01 a.m., and the Kennedy Center at 1:55 and 2:55 a.m.; Saturday night buses from Fort Totten station at 12:54 and 1:20 a.m., and the Kennedy Center at 1:50, 2:20 and 2:50 a.m.

82 College Park Line
The following bus service will be discontinued: Friday and Saturday night buses from Mount Rainier at 2:05, 2:35 and 3:05 a.m., and Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood station at 2:20, 2:50 and 3:20 a.m.

94 Stanton Road Line
The bus that leaves 19th and Savannah streets SE on Saturdays at 7:48 a.m. will start at Anacostia station at 7:37 a.m. and pass 19th and Savannah streets SE at 7:48 a.m.

The following bus service will be discontinued: Friday and Saturday night buses that leave Anacostia station on Friday and Saturday nights at 12:55, 1:30, 1:55, 2:27, 2:55 and 3:25 a.m.

D4 Ivy City-Union Station Line
The following bus service will be discontinued: Friday night buses from Ivy City at 1:25, 2:05 and 2:45 a.m., and Union Station at 1:45, 2:25 and 3:05 a.m.; Saturday night buses from Ivy City at 1:30 and 2:10 a.m., and Union Station at 1:50, 2:30 and 3:10 a.m. on Saturday nights.

D6 Sibley Hospital-Stadium-Armory Line
The Friday night 1:45 a.m. bus from Stadium-Armory station will leave at 1:35 a.m., and the 2:45 a.m. bus from Sibley Hospital will leave at 2:35 a.m. The 1:35 a.m. bus from Sibley Hospital on Friday nights will be changed to run each weeknight. On Saturday nights, the 12:18 and 1:28 a.m. buses from Stadium-Armory station will leave at 12:30 and 1:35 a.m., and the 1:07 a.m. bus from Sibley Hospital will leave at 1:27 a.m.

The following bus service will be discontinued: Friday night buses from Stadium-Armory at 1:04 a.m., and Sibley Hospital at 1:05 and 2:05 a.m.; Saturday night buses from Stadium-Armory 12:58 a.m., and Sibley Hospital at 1:48 a.m.

D8 Hospital Center Line
Buses will run every 15 minutes weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

E2, E3, E4 Military Road-Crosstown Line
On weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and between 8 and 11 p.m. E2 buses that run between Fort Totten and Friendship Heights stations and E3 buses that run between Ivy City and Friendship Heights will be replaced by E2 buses between Ivy City and Friendship Heights and E4 buses between Riggs Park and Friendship Heights. On Friday nights, the 1:13 a.m. bus from Ivy City will leave at 1:12 a.m. and run every weeknight. The 1:10 a.m. bus from Friendship Heights station will leave at 12:57 a.m. every weeknight and end at Fort Totten station. On Saturday nights, the bus from Friendship Heights at 12:52 a.m. will end at Fort Totten station.

The following bus service will be discontinued: Friday night buses from Ivy City at 1:52 a.m., Fort Totten station at 2:27, 2:50 and 3:27 a.m., and Friendship Heights station at 1:55, 2:26 and 2:55 a.m. Saturday night buses from Ivy City at 1:39 a.m., from Fort Totten station at 2:23, 2:53 and 3:27 a.m., and from Friendship Heights station at 1:22, 1:52, 2:22 and 2:55 a.m.

G8 Rhode Island Avenue Line
The following bus service will be discontinued: Friday night buses from Avondale at 12:57, 1:27 and 2:27 a.m., and Farragut Square on Friday nights at 1:40, 2:10 and 3:10 a.m.; Saturday night buses from Avondale at 1:01 and 1:31 a.m., and Farragut Square at 1:40, 2:10 and 2:50 a.m.

H2, H4 Crosstown Line
The 12:50 a.m. H4 bus from Brookland-CUA station and the 1:26 a.m. H4 from Tenleytown-AU station on Friday nights will run every weeknight.

The following bus service will be discontinued: Friday night buses from Brookland-CUA station at 12:22, 1:25, 1:55 and 2:25 a.m., and Van Ness-UDC station at 12:59 and 1:59 a.m.; Saturday night buses from Brookland-CUA station at 12:38, 1:28, 1:53 and 2:23 a.m., and Van Ness-UDC station1:22 and 2:12 a.m. Friday and Saturday night buses from Tenleytown-AU station at 2:30 and 3 a.m.

H5, H7 Mount Pleasant-Adams Morgan Line
H5 and H7 bus service will be discontinued.

H8, H9 Park Road-Brookland Line
Weekday buses will run every 20 to 24 minutes between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and between 7 and 10 p.m. Buses will run every 20 minutes on Saturdays.

L2 Connecticut Avenue Line
The following bus service will be discontinued: Friday night buses from Chevy Chase Circle at 12:40, 1:10, 1:40 and 2:37 a.m., and McPherson Square at 1:12, 1:42, 2:12 and 3:08 a.m; and Saturday night buses from Chevy Chase Circle at 12:50 and 1:30 a.m., and McPherson Square at 1:26, 2:06 and 3:06 a.m.

M6 Fairfax Village Line
Buses will run every 20 minutes on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and between 7 and 9 p.m. The 12:56 a.m. bus from Potomac Ave station on Friday nights will leave at 1 a.m., and run every weeknight and end at 38th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue SE. Buses will run every 20 minutes on Saturdays and every 35 minutes on Sundays. The bus that leaves the station at 12:56 a.m. on Saturday nights will leave at 1 a.m. The 5:39 a.m. bus that leaves Alabama and Pennsylvania avenues SE on Saturdays will begin at Potomac Ave station, leaving at 5:32 a.m. and passing Alabama and Pennsylvania avenues SE at 5:40 a.m.

The following bus service will be discontinued: Friday and Saturday night buses from Potomac Ave station at 1:26, 1:56, 2:26, 2:56 and 3:26 a.m.

N6 Massachusetts Avenue Line
The following bus service will be discontinued: Friday night buses from Friendship Heights station at 12:12, 12:52, 1:32 and 2:32 a.m., and Farragut Square at 12:50, 1:30, 2:10 and 3:10 a.m.; Saturday night buses from Friendship Heights station at 12:17, 12:57, 1:37 and 2:44 a.m., and Farragut Square at 12:50, 1:30, 2:10 and 3:14 a.m.

N8 Van Ness-Wesley Heights Line
All Saturday and Sunday service will be discontinued. Weekday service will not change.

S2, S4 16th Street Line
Buses will be added to the weekday evening schedule to reduce crowding. Between 10 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. weeknights, buses will run every seven to 15 minutes.

U5, U6 Mayfair-Marshall Heights Line
Buses will run every 18 minutes on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and between 7 and 10 p.m. On Friday nights, the 1:40 and 2:10 a.m. buses from Minnesota Ave station will return to the station instead of ending at East Capitol Street and Benning Road. The 2:40 a.m. and 3:10 a.m. buses, which leave the station on Friday nights, will end at East Capitol Street and Benning Road after serving Marshall Heights and Lincoln Heights. On Saturdays between 8 and 10 p.m., buses will run every 20 minutes to reduce crowding. The 2:10 a.m. bus from Minnesota Ave station on Saturday nights will be extended from East Capitol Street and Benning Road back to the station and the 3:10 a.m. bus from the station will end at East Capitol Street and Benning Road after serving Marshall Heights and Lincoln Heights. On Sundays, buses will run every 20 minutes. The 6, 6:48 and 12:32 a.m. buses from Minnesota Ave station on Sundays will leave the station at 6:09, 6:39 and 12:09 a.m., serve Mayfair and then pass the station at 6:20, 6:50 and 12:20 a.m. A new bus will leave the station on Sundays at 12:39 a.m., serve Mayfair, Marshall Heights and Lincoln Heights and end at East Capitol Street and Benning Road.

V7, V8 Minnesota Avenue-M Street Line
Buses that leave the station on Friday nights at 12:28, 12:58 and 1:28 a.m. will end at M and Half streets SE. Buses that leave the station on Saturday nights at 12:30, 1 and 1:30 a.m. will end at M and Half streets SE.

The following bus service will be discontinued: Friday night buses from Deanwood station at 1:50 and 2:20 a.m., and the Bureau of Engraving at 1:10, 1:40, 2:10, 2:40 and 3:10 a.m.; Saturday night buses from Deanwood station at 1:48 and 2:18 a.m., and Archives at 1:13, 1:43, 2:13, 2:43 and 3:13 a.m.

W2 Southeast Community Hospital-Anacostia Line
On weekdays between 6 and 9 a.m., and between 3 and 7 p.m., additional buses will run between the CVS store parking lot at Naylor and Good Hope roads SE and Anacostia station. During that time, buses will run every 17 to 18 minutes between Greater Southeast Community Hospital and Washington Overlook. Between Naylor and Good Hope roads and Anacostia station, buses will run every nine minutes. On Friday nights, the 12:48, 1:18, 1:48 and 2:48 a.m. buses from the hospital will leave at 12:58, 1:40, 2:15 and 2:50 a.m., and the 1:27, 1:57, 2:27 and 3:27 a.m. buses from Anacostia station will leave at 1:32, 2:07, 2:50 and 3:30 a.m. On Saturdays, the 2:32 a.m. bus from Southeast Community Hospital will leave at 2:27 a.m. Buses that leave the station at 1:50, 2:27 and 3:27 a.m. will leave at 1:45, 2:20 and 3:30 a.m. Additional buses will leave the hospital at 3 a.m. and Anacostia station at 2:55 a.m. on Saturdays. On Sundays, a new bus will leave the CVS store parking lot at 6:33 a.m. and end at Washington Overlook. The 6:49 a.m. bus from the hospital will leave at 6:46 a.m., and the 7:48 a.m. bus from Naylor and Good Hope roads SE will begin at the hospital at 7:19 a.m. and pass Naylor and Good Hope roads at 7:43 a.m. The 6:40 and 7:40 a.m. buses from Washington Overlook on Sundays will leave at 6:20 and 7:35 a.m., and the 7:38 a.m. bus from Naylor and Good Hope roads SE will begin at Washington Overlook at 6:56 a.m. and pass Naylor and Good Hope roads SE at 7:19 a.m.

W4 Deanwood-Alabama Avenue Line
Weekday buses that begin or end at Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. avenues SE will begin or end at Anacostia station (except two southbound buses that run only when public schools are open). Bus times will change slightly.

The following bus service will be discontinued: Friday night buses from Deanwood station at 2:42 a.m.

W6, W8 Garfield-Anacostia Loop Line
On Friday nights, the 3:12 a.m. W8 from Anacostia station will leave at 3:15 a.m. and end at Naylor and Good Hope roads SE. On Saturdays, the 6:20 a.m. W6 bus from the CVS store parking lot will be changed to leave Anacostia station at 6:10 a.m. and pass Naylor and Good Hope roads at 6:18 a.m. The 3:15 a.m. W8 from Anacostia station on Saturday nights will end at Naylor and Good Hope roads SE. Other Saturday bus times also will change slightly. On Sundays, the 7:33 a.m. W6 bus from the CVS store parking lot will leave Anacostia station at 7:23 a.m. and pass Naylor and Good Hope roads SE at 7:33 a.m., and the 7:40 a.m. W8 bus from the lot will be changed to leave Anacostia station at 7:17 a.m. and pass Naylor and Good Hope roads SE at 7:38 a.m.

W9 Defense Facilities Shuttle Line
The W9 will be discontinued.

In addition, schedules will change on the following routes to reflect current traffic conditions and to improve service reliability (bus times will change slightly): 5A—Saturday and Sunday; 52, 53, 54—weekday, Saturday, Sunday; 70—Sunday; 90, 92, 93 U Street-Garfield Line—Saturday, Sunday; E2, E3, E4—weekday; H8, H9—weekday, Saturday, Sunday; U5,U6—weekday; W6,W8—weekday.
