Metrobus service route changes in Marylandbegin the week of June 27

Schedule adjustments designed to improve service

Several service changes on Metrobus will be implemented on 13 lines in Maryland starting the week of June 27. These changes are in response to customer requests and will eliminate overcrowding on some routes, shorten passenger waits between trips on others, and improve transfer connections between buses and trains.College Park Line, Routes 81, 82, 83 and 86Route 86 will be changed to serve the College Park-U of MD Metrorail station using the same routing to the east side of the railroad and Metrorail tracks via Paint Branch Parkway and River Road as does Route 83, instead of operating via College Avenue, Dartmouth Avenue, Calvert Road, Rhode Island Avenue and College Avenue. This change is being made at the request of the City of College Park because very few passengers use Route 86 stops east of U.S. Rt. 1 except at the stop nearest the rail station. A few trip times on other routes on this line will be adjusted slightly. In addition, there will be one earlier Route 82 trip from Rhode Island Avenue Metrorail station to Mt. Rainier on Saturday and Sunday mornings.Greenbelt-Twinbrook Line, Route C4 onlyOn Sunday the running time will be adjusted to better reflect actual travel times. The frequency of service will not change.Hillcrest Heights Line, Routes C12, C14Rush hour service will be widened from every 20 minutes to every 25 minutes. Two earlier morning round trips and one later evening round trip will be added to the schedule.Oxon Hill-Suitland Line, Routes D12, D13 and D14The weekday running time will be adjusted to better reflect actual travel times. The frequency of service will not change. In addition, on weekdays the D13 and D14 trips will divert off of Suitland Road via Regency Parkway, Regency Lane and Hil Mar Drive to serve the new townhouse development in that area. Saturday and Sunday D14 service will continue to operate direct via Suitland Road and will not divert via Regency Parkway.Prince George’s-Silver Spring Line, Routes F4, F6The weekday running time will be adjusted to better reflect actual travel times. The frequency of service will not change.Prince George’s-Langley Park Line, Route F8The weekday, Saturday and Sunday running times will be adjusted to better reflect actual travel times. The frequency of service will not change.Marlow Heights-Temple Hills Line, Routes H11, H12 and H13In the morning rush the H11 service will be widened from every 12 minutes to every 15 minutes. There will be a minor impact on the H12 and the H13 trips traveling in the opposite direction at that time of day but no impact on any trips after 10 a.m.Marlboro Pike Line, Route J12 onlyThe Friday night only trips which leave Forestville at 1:01 and 2:01 a.m. and Addison Road Metrorail station at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 a.m. will be discontinued due to low ridership. This means that the last trip will depart Forestville at 11:48 p.m. and the last bus will leave Addison Road Metrorail station at 12:35 a.m. on Friday night, the same as it is from Monday through Thursday nights.Forestville Line, Routes K11, K12 and K13Due to the planned closure by the management of the Park Berkshire Apartments roadway that connects with Hil Mar Drive, it is necessary to reroute the K11, K12 and K13 routes as follows: inbound, via regular route to Hil Mar Drive and Park Berkshire roadway, then continue via Hil Mar Drive, right onto Regency Parkway, right onto Surrey Square Lane, left onto the Park Berkshire Apartments roadway opposite the entrance to Berkshire Elementary School, left onto Surrey Service Drive, then via the existing routing to the Suitland Metrorail station. Outbound trips will follow the reverse routing. Trip times will be adjusted slightly to accommodate this change.Oxon Hill-Fort Washington Line, Routes P17, P19 onlyA new running time will be applied to the schedule to better reflect actual travel times, with the result that many trip times will change.Riggs Road Line, Route R2A new running time will be applied to the Saturday schedule to better reflect actual travel times, with the result that many trip times will change. The frequency of service will not change.Greenbelt-Fort Totten Line, Route R3In coordination with the Saturday schedule adjustment to Route R2, it is necessary to adjust Saturday trip times on Route R3. The frequency of service will not change.District Heights-Suitland Line, Route V11 only (one trip)On Saturday morning the V11 trip that departs the Addison Road Metrorail station at 6:42 a.m. and arrives at the Potomac Avenue Metrorail station at 7:06 a.m. will be changed to operate three minutes earlier.
