This weekend: station closures on Red Line and additional service adjustments on Green Line

Over the weekend, Saturday, Feb. 3 and Sunday, Feb. 4, Metro will perform maintenance and track work impacting the Red, Green, and Yellow lines. All other lines will operate regularly scheduled weekend service. Customers are advised to plan ahead for service adjustments.

On the Red Line, free shuttle buses will replace trains between the Dupont Circle and Van Ness stations to install radio and fiber-optic cables to support future technology improvements. The Cleveland Park and Woodley Park stations will be closed. Red Line service will operate in two segments: Shady Grove to Van Ness and Dupont Circle to Glenmont, with trains running every six minutes during the day and every 10 minutes late night.

Free shuttle buses will be available with express service between Van Ness and Dupont Circle and a local shuttle bus stopping at all stations – Van Ness, Cleveland Park, Woodley Park, and Dupont Circle. Additionally, for customers traveling to Smithsonian National Zoo Metro's local shuttle buses will make stops at the zoo in both directions during the hours of 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Customers traveling through the work zone are advised to give yourself additional time to accommodate transfers to/from shuttle buses. Regular route Metrobus service is also available, including the L2 which operates along Connecticut Ave NW between Chevy Chase Circle and Farragut West. Metrobus service is free when transferring to/from the rail system with the $2 transfer discount. Check Metro's trip planner for available options.

On the Green and Yellow lines, trains will single track between Mount Vernon Square and L'Enfant Plaza to replace platform edge lighting, work on the radio system, and other maintenance. Service will operate every 18 minutes on the Yellow Line and on the Green Line every 9 minutes between Greenbelt and U St and every 18 minutes between U St and Branch Ave.

Green Line customers traveling south toward downtown DC will need to transfer to or board a Green Line train to Branch Ave to continue their trip beyond U St; or consider using the Red Line via Fort Totten and Gallery Place for service to/from downtown. Red Line trains will run more frequent service and may provide a faster connection.

The Blue, Orange, and Silver lines will operate normal service throughout the weekend providing frequent service in the downtown area, with trains arriving approximately every 4 minutes during the day and 5 minutes late night at stations where the lines overlap.
