Snow Globe Giveaway and Weekend Event Giveaways Terms and Conditions

By participating in the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority's ("WMATA") Snow Globe Giveaway and/or Weekend Event Giveaways, participants may be eligible to win one (1) snow globe ($60 value), AND/OR one (1) holiday sweater ($40 - $50 value), AND/OR one (1) 8-pack Metro ornament set ($50 value) AND/OR one (1) Metro gift wrapping set wrapping set (includes four rolls of Metro gift-wrapping paper) ($60 value).

No payment or purchase is necessary to enter or win, and any purchases do not improve odds of winning. The Giveaway is void wherever prohibited by law, or where it does not comply with applicable registration or filing requirements of any state or local jurisdiction. By entering the Giveaway, you agree to these Official Rules, which are a contract, so read them carefully before entering. This contract includes limitations of your rights and remedies.

1. Eligibility: The 2025 Snow Globe Giveaway and 2025 Weekend Event Giveaways (the "Giveaway") is open only to legal residents of the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia who are 18 years or older at the time of entry, subject to all applicable laws and regulations. The Giveaway is sponsored by WMATA, 300 Seventh Street SW, Washington, DC 20024 ("Sponsor"). The Giveaway is not open to (a) any employees of Sponsor, or (b) any such employee's immediate family members (e.g., spouse, parent, stepparent, sibling, stepsibling, half-sibling, child, and step-child) or any person living in the same household as such individuals. Only one entry per person is permitted. Any false or deceptive entries or acts (including, for example, creating or using multiple email accounts or online identities to enter multiple times) by you will render all entries by you ineligible. Any use of robotic, automatic, programmed, or similar methods of entry by you will render your entry ineligible. Partial and incomplete entries may be disqualified. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any participant or winner who, in its sole discretion, tampers with the entry process, intentionally submits multiple entries, violates these Official Rules, or acts in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner.

   • How to Enter:To participate in the 2025 Weekend Event Giveaways to be held December 6^th, December 13^th, and December 20^th, 2025, and enter the Giveaways, (1)  Visit the event on that day at the Metro Holiday Pop-Up. (2) find the QR code to scan. (3) Fill out the form to enter to win.
2. Selection of Winners: Completing the steps detailed in paragraph 2 "How to Enter" will qualify you to enter the Giveaway(s). On or about December 31, 2025, WMATA will select eight (8) winners at random from the pool of all eligible participants. Should WMATA choose your entry, you must respond to WMATA's email communication informing you that your entry has been selected and provide your legal name and mailing address for WMATA to mail the holiday gift to. Any questions regarding eligibility and/or determination of the winners will be decided at the sole discretion of WMATA, whose decisions are final and binding in all matters relating to this Giveaway. The odds of winning depend on the total number of entries received.
3. Prizes: There will be a total of eight (8) prize winners. The eligible winners  of the Snow Globe Giveaway will receive only one (1) Metro snow globe ($60 value). The eligible winners  of the Weekend Event Giveaways will receive only one (1) of the following holiday gifts: Metro holiday sweater ($40-$50 value), OR one (1) 8-pack Metro ornament set ($50 value), OR one (1) Metro gift-wrapping set (includes four rolls of Metro gift-wrapping paper) ($60 value).
4. The Prize is non-transferable and may not be substituted by the winner or redeemed for cash value. WMATA may substitute a prize of equal or greater value in its sole discretion. Federal, state, and local taxes associated with the acceptance of the prize are the sole responsibility of the winner. WMATA will not award an unclaimed or rejected prize.
5. Redeeming Prizes: The winners will be notified by email within 24 hours of drawing. Once notified, each potential winner must respond to WMATA by email within 24 hours of notification with their complete legal name and mailing. Each potential winner is subject to verification at the sole discretion of WMATA. Anti-fraud detection devices may be used to verify winning entries. The winning entry will be void and ineligible for the prize if it fails to pass anti-fraud detection measures. As part of the verification process, WMATA may require the winner to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility and liability and publicity release within a specified time period or the prize may be forfeited. Unless otherwise agreed by WMATA, the winner will receive their prize via United States mail. WMATA is not responsible for lost, late, stolen, misdirected, delayed, or damaged prizes.
6. Release of Liability: By participating, participant releases WMATA and its present and future licensees, and insurers, the past and present officers, directors, volunteers, employees, representatives, agents, and advertising and promotion agencies of each of the foregoing, the predecessors, successors, transferees, and assigns of each of the foregoing, and all others associated with the development and execution of this Giveaway, from and against any and all injury, loss, or damage caused or claimed to be caused by his/her participation in the Giveaway and/or the acceptance, awarding, receipt, use, and/or misuse of any prize, and participant agrees that these entities are in no matter responsible for any warranty, representation, or guarantee, expressed or implied, in fact or in law, relating to the promotion, and/or the awarding of any prize.
7. General: By participating, participants agree (i) to be bound by these Official Rules, including all eligibility requirements, (ii) to be bound by the decisions of WMATA, which are final and binding in all matters relating to the Giveaway, (iii) to be bound by the Metro Digital Services Policy, (iv) to allow WMATA to use the images submitted and/or posted on social media, and (v) to allow WMATA to publish the names of the winners using their name, social media handle, and area of residence. WMATA is not responsible for: (i) lost, late, misdirected, damaged, garbled, or illegible entries; (ii) technical, network, telephone equipment, electronic, computer, hardware or software malfunctions of any kind, or inaccurate transmission of, or failure to receive entry information by WMATA on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site or any combination thereof; or (iii) any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer, phone, or electronic device related to or resulting from participating in the Giveaway. WMATA reserves the right to permanently disqualify from this Giveaway any participant it believes has violated these Official Rules. By accepting or participating in a prize, each winner irrevocably consents to the use of such winner's name, X/Twitter handle, likeness, submitted photographs, image, voice, performance (in connection with interviews and other recordings), biographical information, and statements relating to the Giveaway or WMATA, without further compensation, in all world-wide marketing, promotion, and publicity carried out in perpetuity by WMATA in connection with this Giveaway. WMATA reserves the right to terminate, cancel, suspend and/or modify the Giveaway if any fraud, virus, or other problem corrupts the administration, security, or proper play of the Giveaway, as determined by WMATA in its sole discretion. If the Giveaway is terminated before the end date/time, WMATA will determine the winners from all eligible entries received as of the termination date/time. If any such malfunction, error, disruption, or similar damage occurs and impairs the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper play of the Giveaway, WMATA may, in its sole discretion, suspend or terminate the Giveaway by posting a notice at www.wmata.com/holiday-pop-up-2025-giveaway.
8. Disclaimers: Under no circumstances, including negligence, shall WMATA or its present and future licensees, and insurers, the past and present officers, directors, volunteers, employees, representatives, agents, and advertising and promotion agencies of each of the foregoing, the predecessors, successors, transferees, and assigns of each of the foregoing, or any others associated with the development and execution of this Giveaway, be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including without limitation, property damage, personal injury and/or death, resulting from any participant's participation in the Giveaway or acceptance, use or misuse of any prize. Notwithstanding the foregoing, in the event that the preceding release is determined by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid or void for any reason, the participant agrees that, by entering the Giveaway, (a) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or in connection with the Giveaway, or any prizes awarded, shall be resolved individually without resort to any form of class action; (b) any claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering the Giveaway, but in no event attorney's fees; and (c) under no circumstances will any participant be permitted to obtain any award for, and participant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, or consequential damages and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased and any other damages, other than damages for actual out-of-pocket expenses. Each winner shall bear all risk of loss or damage to his/her prize after it has been delivered to such winner via certified mail.
