Metro service information for Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2
On Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2, Metrorail will open at 7 a.m. and close at midnight, operating on Sunday schedules at all stations. Metrobus will operate on a Sunday schedule. MetroAccess customers may make a reservation to travel on the holiday; however, subscription trips will be canceled.
Enjoy a stress-free Labor Day by hopping on Metro. If you’re heading out of town– skip past the traffic and leave the parking behind by taking Metro to Dulles International or Reagan National airports.
On Sunday, four Red Line stations – Glenmont, Wheaton, Forest Glen, and Silver Spring stations – will reopen for service.
Service information for Monday, September 2:
Metrorail
- Red Line: Trains every 6 minutes, then every 10 minutes after 9:30 p.m.
- Blue Line: Trains every 12 minutes, then every 15 minutes after 9:30 p.m.
- Silver Line: Trains every 12 minutes, then every 15 minutes after 9:30 p.m.
- Orange Line: Trains every 12 minutes, then every 15 minutes after 9:30 p.m.
- Yellow Line: Trains every 8 minutes all day.
- Green Line: Trains every 8 minutes all day.
Customers are encouraged to check wmata.com/stations for first and last train information when planning travel. Visit wmata.com/weekend for service information all weekend long.
Parking will be free at all Metro-owned parking lots and garages during the weekend and on the Labor Day holiday.
Metrobus
Buses will operate on a Sunday schedule.

MetroAccess
- All subscription trips will be canceled Monday.
- Customers wishing to travel on the holiday should make a separate reservation online or by calling 301-562-5360 (TTY 301-588-7535).
