Metro advises customers of MTA’s Purple Line construction impacts to bus bay, parking lot, and Kiss & Ride on Ellin Road at New Carrollton Station
Construction of Maryland Transit Administration (MTA)’s Purple Line project continues at New Carrollton this Sunday.
Effective Sunday, October 27, 2024, Metro will implement changes to the bus bay, parking lot, and Kiss & Ride on the Ellin Road side of New Carrollton Station.
Bus bays G, H, J, and K will close for approximately one year. Customers will board their regularly scheduled buses at temporary bus stop locations during the closure. Once the bus loop construction is complete, a new larger bus loop will replace the former bus loop.
Customers should plan additional travel time and new pedestrian paths to access the temporary bus boarding locations.
The Kiss & Ride on the Ellin Road side of New Carrollton will close for approximately one year to construct a new Kiss & Ride lot. During the reconstruction, customers will utilize the Garden City Drive Kiss & Ride lot.
Accessible and reserved parking spaces are being relocated to make room for bus movements. Customers are encouraged to utilize the accessible and reserved spaces on the Garden City Drive side of the station for a shorter walk to the station.
