Metro to Hold Hiring Event and Extend Contingent Offers Onsite
Published: 04/04/2025
Interviews to be conducted by invitation only
Metro will host a “by invitation only” hiring event in April and invite participating candidates who meet qualifications to interview in person for potential immediate contingent offers.
Metro currently has a variety of positions posted at wmata.com/careers and are looking to fill roles that range from project manager to senior-level positions in areas like human capital, finance, data and research, digital modernization, and engineering. With changes in the federal workforce, Metro believes available talent in the region will immediately bolster an already talented team. This is the first time Human Capital will expedite the recruitment process and allow hiring managers to extend onsite offers to qualified candidates.
All interested candidates should complete applications online at wmata.com/careers no later than Tuesday, April 8, at 11:59 EST. Any applications marked after this deadline will not be considered for this event.
While all positions are currently listed, only select positions will be included in this event. Metro is continuously recruiting for mission critical positions like Metro Transit Police Officers, Bus Operators, Bus Mechanics and other operational roles. “We want to take advantage of a hiring market, especially federal and contract employees, where a number of talented professionals in this region can immediately add value to Metro,” said General Manager and CEO Randy Clarke. “I’ve asked our Human Capital leadership team to fill as many positions as quickly as possible to reduce contractor costs for more efficiency.”
The hiring process for Metro can take approximately 90 days from start to finish. The timeframe can extend even longer for positions that have special requirements. For candidates who are extended an offer onsite, their overall hiring process will be cut down to a few weeks.
“Our team is working hard to make this a great experience for both our hiring managers and candidates, said Sherri Dickerson, Metro Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer. “We’ve never executed a hiring event with onsite offers for administrative positions, but we are always looking for ways to streamline our practices and accelerate the process that’s currently in place.”
Candidates who are interested should complete the following steps:
- Visit wmata.com/careers and click on “job openings” in the side navigation under careers or scroll down to click on “view all jobs”
- Click on positions that align with your professional experience and the stated qualifications (invitations will not be extended to those who
DO NOT
meet minimum qualifications)
Note: If you are interested in front line positions, please apply online but note these positions will not be included in this event. Frontline (Metrobus Operator, mechanic or MTPD recruit) positions will be handled through the normal hiring process.
- Register and create a login account
- Once submitted, a recruitment officer will evaluate your qualifications
- If qualifications are confirmed, an invitation will be extended detailing the date and time of your interview
Note: If you are unable to attend the date and time of the interview, no additional opportunities will be provided outside of this event unless a candidate is not identified during this accelerated period.
Due to expected volume, those who do not meet qualifications will not be contacted. For more information about Metro, please visit wmata.com.
