MTPD seeks to ID suspect who fired shots at Metrobus

Metro Transit Police are seeking the public's assistance to identify a person of interest in an overnight incident in which multiple shots were fired at a Metrobus operating on the D14 route in District Heights, Md.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. Monday, March 27, in the area of Regency Lane and Regency Parkway in District Heights.

A male subject exited the bus and then fired multiple times at the rear of the vehicle. A total of nine bullets struck the bus; however, none penetrated the passenger compartment, and there were no injuries to any of the ten passengers or the bus operator.

Upon hearing the shots, the Metrobus operator moved the bus to a safe location (Suitland Metrorail Station), where police responded. The suspect fled the scene.

Police do not have a motive for the shooting at this time.
