Metro to bring holiday wonderland bus to kids, community

Metro will spread holiday cheer this week with events throughout the region. Community members can step into the sweetest ride in the D.C. area this holiday season when they board a specially decoratedgingerbread wonderland” Metrobus.

Participants will be welcomed by Metro executives, Transit Police officers, Metrobus and Metrorail personnel and receive bags filled with goodies and other giveaways at the following locations in the coming days:

  • Wednesday, December 13: Pentagon City Station, 4-6 p.m.
  • Thursday, December 14: Columbia Heights Station, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Friday, December 15: Fort Totten Station, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

The holiday bus will also make stops at several schools in the region as well as the Ronald McDonald House to spread holiday joy to hundreds of local children.

Metro employees participated by providing cash donations, holiday gifts for children, and daily necessities for those in need. Over the holidays, MTPD officers will hand out cold-weather necessities to those who are unhoused and will continue to conduct additional pop-up outreach events in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

“Metro looks forward to welcoming families this holiday season aboard our exciting holiday-wrapped gingerbread bus,” said Metro General Manager and Chief Executive Officer Randy Clarke. “Last year's holiday bus event was extremely successful. Any opportunity we have to continue serving the community brings joy to us as an organization.”

The month of December features more than a dozen MTPD outreach events with the goal of continuing to build relationships with the community and promoting safety within the entire Metro system.
