Weekend trackwork: Green Line construction work closures extend to Southern Av, Congress Heights
On Aug. 9-10 and Aug. 16-17, the summer construction zone on the Green Line will extend to Anacostia with Congress Heights, Southern Av., Naylor Road, Suitland, and Branch Av. stations closed.
Free local and express shuttle buses replace trains between Anacostia and Branch Av. Express shuttles will stop at Anacostia, Southern Av., and Branch Av. A local shuttle will stop at Anacostia and each closed station.
Crews will install cabling for improved communications and train control system upgrades. In addition, crews will be renewing rails, replacing rail ties, and grout pads for smoother rides. Lighting upgrades include replacing platform edge lights that alert customers of approaching trains and improved lighting in stations for better visibility.
A reminder: Construction on the Green Line continues through Aug. 31, with Branch Av., Suitland, and Naylor Road closed for construction. For more information visit wmata.com/majorconstruction.
