Metro service information and track work for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day weekend
Over the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day weekend, Metro will conduct track work on several lines. Service will also operate on an adjusted schedule on Monday, Jan. 19, in observance of the holiday.
Holiday Service – Monday, Jan. 19
- Metro Rail will operate on a weekend schedule from 5 a.m. to midnight.
- Metro Bus will operate on a Saturday Supplemental schedule.
- Metro Access customers may make reservations to travel; subscription trips will be canceled.
Holiday weekend track work and service impacts
Red Line
- Saturday, Jan. 17 and Sunday, Jan. 18: Trains will bypass Silver Spring station due to Purple Line construction. Shuttle buses will be available at Silver Spring, Forest Glen, and Takoma stations for customers whose origin or destination is Silver Spring.
- Monday, Jan. 19: Trains will single-track between Silver Spring and Forest Glen for tunnel leak mitigation. Trains will operate every 7-8 minutes between Shady Grove and NoMa-Gallaudet U, and every 15 minutes between Rhode Island Av and Glenmont.
Orange Line
- Saturday and Sunday: Trains will single-track between Ballston-MU and East Falls Church to repair platform edge lighting. Trains will operate every 18 minutes.
- Monday: Normal weekend service.
Silver Line
- Saturday and Sunday: Trains will single-track between Ballston-MU and East Falls Church. Trains will operate every 18 minutes west of Stadium–Armory and every 36 minutes on each branch east of Stadium–Armory.
- Monday: Normal weekend service.
Green Line
- Saturday, Sunday, and Monday: Trains will single-track between Navy Yard and L’Enfant Plaza to repair grout pads. Trains will operate every 16 minutes between Branch Ave and Mt. Vernon Square only. At L’Enfant Plaza, all Green Line trains in both directions will use the northbound platform.
Yellow Line
- Normal weekend service on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday with every train operating between Huntington and Greenbelt.
Blue Line
- Normal weekend service on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
