Metro releases festive wrapped train, buses for the holidays; Metro holiday sweater photoshoot planned
A gingerbread wonderland on a bright winter blue backdrop highlights Metro’s latest holiday wrapped train and buses. Both will bring customers holiday cheer starting today, Dec. 5.
The special vehicles are adorned with gingerbread people, snowmen, gingerbread houses, ornaments, bells and stars. The inside is also decked out with holiday spirit!
This year’s theme is “Treat yourself to a sweet ride this holiday season.” Metro is always your best bet for getting around the DMV region this holiday season -- and your fast, reliable, easy trip can be made even better by catching these limited-edition vehicles.
You can track both the bus and train by visiting wmata.com/live and clicking on “special edition.” Three wrapped buses will travel routes in D.C., Virginia, and Maryland.
This marks Metro’s third time wrapping trains and buses for the holidays.

The black sweater is complete with a gingerbread man operating a train and Metrobus, train, and MetroAccess vehicle decorations. The sweater also lights up and plays the “doors opening” chimes.
They were sold online for pre-order earlier this year and they are also on sale at Metro’s Holiday Pop-Up Shop in the Martin Luther King Jr. Library in downtown D.C.
Now we want to meet up and get a picture with all of Metro’s biggest fans.
We’ll meet on Thursday, Dec. 12 at the MLK Jr. Library in Downtown D.C. at 6:30 p.m. for the group photo.
You can also get your own free individual “awkward holiday photo” taken at our photobooth from 5-9 p.m. at the library on the 12th. Wear your Metro holiday sweater to participate.
Hope to see you there!
