Media Advisory: Metro and Alexandria Fire Department to recognize Good Samaritan and MTPD officer who saved rider's life

Metro and the Alexandria Fire Department will host a news conference Tuesday, February 7, at 10:30 a.m. to recognize the efforts of a Good Samaritan and an MTPD officer who came to the aid of a Metro rider suffering a medical emergency last week.    

On January 31, a Metro customer at the Braddock Road Station collapsed on the platform. Debra Anderson, a bystander who witnessed the incident, and MTPD Officer Joanne Dill quickly came to the man's aid, began performing CPR and utilized the station's Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) while awaiting EMS.

Medics from the Alexandria Fire Department arrived to transport the patient to the hospital where life-saving care continued. The patient survived.
