What We Offer

Pay

We offer guaranteed eight hours of pay, five days a week. The starting salary for Mechanic D is over $70,000 and there are opportunities to earn overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or possession of a general equivalency diploma (GED)
• Experience: Level D
• Two years as a garage mechanic or related experience

The following vocational/technical training can be substituted for two years of full-time work experience at all levels:

• Three years high school mechanical training
• Two years tech school mechanical training; OR, two years college mechanical training
• A current ASE certification in one of the following fields: transit bus, automotive, medium/heavy truck or school bus
• Military Occupational Skills Course certifications in a related field
• Associate degree in Automotive Technology
• Automotive manufacturer-specific certifications
• Two years of vocational training in transit bus, automotive, medium/heavy truck or school bus maintenance from a school recognized by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges
