Metro announces upcoming service updates for Bus and Rail

Metro is making updates to nearly 50 bus routes across its service area, effective Sunday, June 21, which also coincides with the first day of summer. These service changes will improve reliability and strengthen connections across the region for customers.
Highlights include:
· In the District of Columbia, the C91 and D24 routes will be added to the Frequent Service Network with 20 minute or better frequency from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day, and service will be expanded on routes C35, C57, D6X, and D72;
· In Maryland, the P96 route will connect to Heather Hill Apartments via Fisher Rd; and
· In Virginia, Route A1X will shift to the new transitway in Pentagon City and rush hour service will be expanded along Columbia Pike and Carling Springs Rd on the A49 and A76 routes. Service on the A49 route will begin earlier each day and frequency on the A76 will run every 15 minutes instead of every 30 minutes.
Metro will make schedule adjustments and other changes to improve service for customers on the following routes:
- DC: C11, C13, C17, C25, C26, C31, C33, C35, C43, C57, C63, C81, C83, C85, C87, C91, D10, D1X, D20, D24, D32, D4X, D50, D5X, D6X, D72, D94
- Maryland: M12, P14, P1X, P31, P35, P61, P96, P97
- Virginia: A1X, A11, A27, A29, A40, A49, A66, A76, F20, F44, F50, F60, F61, F85
Of note, the D10 and D1X will experience route detours this summer due to road closures to accommodate America’s 250th anniversary events. Customers can find route-specific changes at wmata.com. Metro also encourages customers to visit wmata.com/tripplanner for new schedule information.
Metro Rail Updates
Metro is also making updates to further improve customer experience on the rail system. Beginning Sunday, June 28, trains on the Red Line will run at least every four minutes for a longer period of time during the busiest portions of the weekday rush hours, except during the summer construction work scheduled for July 6 – Sept. 6. On the Blue, Orange, and Silver lines, trains will run at least every nine minutes in the peak direction during the busiest portions of weekday rush hours.
