Metro Bus Service Changes Start June 21, 2026

Metro made schedule adjustments and other changes to the following routes on Sunday, June 21, 2026:
- DC: C11, C13, C17, C25, C26, C31, C33, C35, C43, C57, C63, C81, C83, C85, C87, C91, D10, D1X, D20, D24, D32, D4X, D50, D5X, D6X, D72, D94
- Maryland: M12, P14, P1X, P31, P35, P61, P96, P97
- Virginia: A1X, A11, A27, A29, A40, A49, A66, A76, F20, F44, F50, F60, F61, F85

District of Columbia
- At the eastern end of the route, buses now begin and end service on westbound Lee St + Eastern Av NE (stop 1001307) instead of on northbound Eastern Av between Lee St and Sheriff Rd NE.
- Most trips now operate between Deanwood and Naylor Rd via Fort Dupont.
- Service frequency now improves to 25 minutes from 40 minutes during non-rush hour times, daily.
- Morning service begins earlier, at 6 am instead of 7 am, expanding service between Capitol Heights and U St.
- At Georgia Av-Petworth, buses now serve Bay A along southbound Georgia Av north of New Hampshire Av NW.
- Near Tenleytown, the route now operates along 40 St/Fort Dr and Chesapeake St NW between Nebraska Av and Tenley Circle to improve Metro Rail connections.
- An additional trip to Fort Totten was added to the schedule, departing Tenleytown at 3:30 pm on school days to reduce crowding.
C83 Barnaby Woods-Friendship Heights
- North of Knollwood (Lindsey Dr NW), the route now operates in both directions along Oregon Av NW to and from Friendship Heights, returning to Western Av via Chestnut St in the direction of Friendship Heights.
- One-way service along southbound Oregon Av between Lindsey Dr and Nebraska Av, and along westbound Nebraska Av NW between Oregon Av and Utah Av NW no longer operates. Customers who used the stop at Nebraska Av + 28 St NW should instead use the stop at Nebraska Av + Oliver St NW (stop 1002757).
- The route was added to Metro’s Frequent Service Network. From 7 am to 9 pm daily, service frequency now improves to every 20 minutes or better. Weekday rush hour service that operates more frequently continues to operate.
- The route now operates on a summer detour to accommodate America 250 events and related street closures near the National Mall. Buses now operate via 4 St and 6 St between Massachusetts Av NW and Pennsylvania Av SE, Massachusetts Av NE, and E St NW between Metro Center and Eastern Market.
- At the western end of the route, buses now begin and end service at Foggy Bottom along New Hampshire Av near 24 and I (Eye) streets NW.
- Westbound destination information changed to Foggy Bottom.
- The route now operates on a summer detour to accommodate America 250 events and related street closures near the National Mall. Buses now operate via 4 St and 6 St between Massachusetts Av NW and Pennsylvania Av SE, Massachusetts Av NE, and E St NW between Metro Center and Eastern Market. At the western end of the route during the detour, buses now begin and end service at Metro Center.
- At the western end of the route during late nights, buses now begin and end service at Foggy Bottom along New Hampshire Av near 24 and I (Eye) streets NW.
- The route was added to Metro’s Frequent Service Network. From 7 am to 9 pm daily, service frequency now improves to every 20 minutes or better. Weekday rush hour service that operates more frequently continues to operate.
- The route now travels more direct between Northeast neighborhoods and downtown DC in response to construction at the new stadium (on the RFK campus). Buses no longer serve Stadium-Armory at stops along 19 St NW because of road closures. Customers connecting to Metro Rail can transfer at Benning Rd Station at East Capitol St + Benning Rd NE (eastbound stop 1000769; westbound stop 1000820) or at Union Station at Massachusetts Av + E St NE (eastbound stop 1001033; westbound stop 1003743).
- East to Deanwood, buses remain on Independence Av SE between 17 St SE and East Capitol St.
- West to McPherson Sq, buses remain on C St NE from East Capitol St.
D32 Rhode Island Av-Fort Lincoln
- All trips now operate between Fort Lincoln and Federal Triangle. Short trips that operate between Federal Triangle and Rhode Island Av now extend to Fort Lincoln.
- On weekdays, frequency now improves to every 10 minutes during non-rush hour times to reduce crowding.
- At the southern end of the route, buses now begin and end service on westbound F St + 13 St NW (stop 1001049) instead of on westbound F St + 12 St NW.
- On Saturdays and Sundays, service now ends at midnight instead of approximately 10 pm, expanding service along 16 St NW.
D72 Connecticut Av-Mt. Pleasant
- Additional trips now operate to and from Van Ness. Between 6 am and 9 pm daily, every other trip now extends from Mt. Pleasant to Van Ness. Between 4 am and 6 am and between 9 pm and midnight daily, all trips now extend from Mt. Pleasant to Van Ness.
D94 Gallery Place-Sibley Hospital
- Additional trips were added to the schedule, departing 9 + F St NW (Gallery Place) to Sibley Hospital at 7:45 am and departing Sibley Hospital to Dupont Circle at 3:45 pm on school days to reduce crowding.
Maryland
- The route now serves all stops between University Blvd (MD-193) and East West Hwy (MD-410). Limited-stop service continues to operate between Baltimore Av + Hamilton St and Rhode Island Av station.
- The route changed to serve Heather Hill Apartments via Fisher Rd between Suitland and Oxon Hill P+R.
Virginia
- This route change begins Sunday, July 5, 2026.
- North to Pentagon City, buses will operate via the new 12 St Transitway, providing more direct service between Crystal City and Pentagon City. Service will be added at new transitway stops at 12 St S + Elm St, 12 St S + Long Bridge Dr, and Crystal Dr + 15 St S.
- Crystal City Station will be served at a stop along northbound Crystal Dr + 18 St S (stop 6000894). Buses to Pentagon City will no longer operate along southbound S Bell St between 15 St and 18 St S.
- North to Metro Center, buses now operate along eastbound F St instead of G St between 14 and 13 streets NW in downtown DC. A new stop was added at 13 St + G St NW (stop 1001073).
A49 Columbia Pike-Metro Center
- Morning and afternoon service now begins earlier, at 5 am instead of 5:40 am and at 3:30 pm instead of 3:50 pm, expanding service along Columbia Pike.
- Buses now operate in both directions during weekday rush hours, including new trips added in the non-rush direction of travel; west to Culmore during weekday mornings and east to Metro Center during weekday afternoons.
- During weekday rush hours, frequency now improves to every 15 minutes from every 30 minutes between Ballston and Mark Center, expanding service along Carlin Springs Rd.

- West to Fair Oaks, buses now serve a new stop along westbound Wilson Blvd + Peyton Randolph Dr (stop 5005036).
