Make a Scene! Art in Transit and Theatre Washington Celebrate Community During Theatre Week

Let’s make a scene – with musical theatre! For the first time, Metro is partnering with Theatre Washington for a special performance celebrating community during Theatre Week 2026. On October 6th, Eastern Market’s Metro Park will be transformed into a lively stage where Musical Director Ben Shaver and performers Deimoni Brewington, Ben Bogen, Divine Iwehe, Caro Dubberly and Natascia Diaz will dazzle audiences with a selection of musical theatre classics. This celebration offers an immersion into the rich cultural tapestry of DC’s theatre community.

Expect live performances of musical theatre classics, as well as information, activities, and giveaways from Metro and community partners.

Theatre Week celebrates the launch of the theatre season in the Washington, DC region with dozens of shows at low prices and free theatre events. Held annually in September, Theatre Week kicks off the launch of the theatre season in the Washington, DC-area. With dozens of participating theatres and productions, it is a celebration of the theatre community, providing an opportunity to sample the diverse and vibrant work on a variety of stages across the region.

Through collaborative partnerships and programs, Theatre Washington supports the Washington, DC-area’s professional theatre community to celebrate artistic achievement, strengthen the theatrical workforce, support institutional growth and advancement, and cultivate collective action. Theatre Washington’s core programs include: the Helen Hayes Awards, Theatre Week, Theatre Summit, Theatre Work, and the Taking Care Fund.
