Join Metro and AU’s Humanities Truck for Art in Transit Activities at Deanwood Station
Wednesday, October 7, 2026
3:00PM – 6:00PM EDT
Upcoming event, October 7
Metro will transform two station passageways at the Deanwood station this winter with a large-scale temporary art installation that celebrates the history, culture, and creativity of Deanwood residents.
As part of the project, on October 7, Metro is partnering with American University's Humanities Truck to engage customers and community members in-person at Deanwood station.
At the event, visitors can:
- Learn about the temporary artwork project
- Share ideas and feedback about the station's future art installation
- Connect Metro with local artists and cultural organizations
- Participate in activities that celebrate Deanwood's history, culture, and creativity
The Humanities Truck will serve as a mobile space for conversation, storytelling, and collecting community perspectives to help inform the project.
Call for artists and community input
This project is part of Metro's Art in Transit program and Created Together initiative, both aimed at enhancing public spaces and creating meaningful arts experiences throughout the system. Between September 11 and October 12, Metro seeks connections to local artists and input from community members and partners about what they would like to see at their station.
Learn more and submit input online via the Deanwood temporary artwork project page.
