Arlington Transit (ART)

Metro Lift is now accepted at ART, making it easier to travel beyond Metro service areas. Customers benefit from “seamless regional travel” across jurisdictions, easily transferring between Metro and ART routes as part of Metro’s partnership program. Discounted transfer fares apply.

Temporary transfer fare adjustment for select Fairfax Connector routes

Customers transferring from the Fairfax Connector service listed below to Metro Bus or ART may see a temporary higher transfer fare at the time of travel. Impacted customers will receive an automatic stored value credit for the difference between the temporary fare charged and the correct transfer fare. Credits are typically processed overnight but may take up to 72 hours.

Affected transfers:

• Fairfax Connector Local Service to Metro Bus Express Service
• Fairfax Connector Tysons Shuttle to Metro Bus Regular Service
• Fairfax Connector Tysons Shuttle to Metro Bus Montgomery County
• Fairfax Connector Tysons Shuttle to Metro Bus Express Service
• Fairfax Connector Tysons Shuttle to Arlington Transit (ART)

Transfers to or from Metro Rail are not affected.

What you need to know:

• No action is required.
• If you are impacted, the fare difference will automatically be credited to your Smart Trip card stored value.
• Credits are typically processed overnight but may take up to 72 hours.
• The credit amount depends on the trip and will equal the difference between the temporary transfer fare charged and the correct transfer fare.
