Fire Prevention Week is October 4 - 10
Updated: 9/29/2026
Fire Prevention Week is October 4 - 10, and this year's theme is Lithium-Ion Battery Safety. Portable chargers can overheat, ignite, and produce hazardous smoke.
Inspect your charger before use, stop using it if it is swollen, damaged, unusually hot, or emitting an odor, and immediately notify transit personnel if a device begins smoking or burning aboard a train.
