CPR & AED Awareness Week
Updated: 6/2/2026
As we enter CPR & AED Awareness Week, June 1-7, 2026, we encourage everyone to become familiar with the tools and resources available at Metro so that you’re prepared in the event of a cardiac emergency.
Cardiac arrest can occur without warning, and immediate action — calling 911, starting CPR, and using an AED — can significantly increase a person’s chance of survival.
- No one is expected to respond perfectly — taking prompt action, in any capacity, can help save a life.
- You don’t need to be a medical professional to help save a life — awareness, readiness, and willingness to act are what matter most.
Additional resources

Lifesaving AEDs throughout the system
Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) provide critical support during cardiac emergencies when every second counts. AEDs are conveniently located in rail station kiosks across the Metro system, making them easy to access in an emergency.
CPR and AED-trained Metro personnel
Metro’s Station Managers are trained in CPR and AED response to ensure rapid action when a rider is in distress. Their quick intervention can significantly improve survival outcomes.
Empowering riders to act
We encourage customers to familiarize themselves with the following actions in case of emergency:
- Notify station managers and other Metro personnel immediately
- Call 911
- Follow instructions from trained responders
Download the free PulsePoint app to receive alerts about nearby cardiac emergencies and help bridge the gap before first responders arrive. With just a few taps, you can be ready to make a lifesaving difference — on Metro and throughout the region.
Together, we can make our transit system safer — and help save lives.
