Delays, issues, and outages
Na-update: 5/16/2026
There are a few ways to find out about potential delays or issues before you travel.
Finding out about service changes or delays
When service is interrupted or delayed, we’ll put a notice on our Alerts and Advisories page.
During extreme weather, like snow or heavy rain, there will usually be interruptions or delays, especially for bus riders. Be sure to check before you travel.
Metro alerts
If you sign up for Metro Alerts for a line or route, we’ll notify you directly with a text message or email.
Use Rider Tools
Service status for elevators and escalators
Elevators and escalators throughout the system are being being tested, repaired, or fully rehabillitated.
The easiest way to find out if an elveator or escalator is out of service, find your station page in rider tools station pages and look at the Info tab.
If you rely on elevators, you can also sign up for access to ELstat, Metro's elevator status application, to get advance notice of scheduled elevator outages.
If an elevator outage prevents you from exiting at your station, ask a station manager for shuttle service.
You may also be able to circumvent out-of-service elevators by using center-platform stations.
