Summer Detour for Special Events: D10 Pennsylvania Ave and D1X Pennsylvania Ave Limited

Due to street closures and major special events associated with America 250 activities near the National Mall, including the Great American State Fair and Freedom 250 Grand Prix, the D10 and D1X will operate on a temporary summer detour. The detour routing is reflected in schedules beginning June 21, 2026. All stops along the detour route will be served, with temporary signage posted at affected locations.
The following routes will detour:
D10 Pennsylvania Ave
- Buses will operate via 4th St and 6th St between Massachusetts Ave, NW and Pennsylvania Ave, SE, Massachusetts Ave, NE, and E St, NW between Metro Center and Eastern Market.
D1X Pennsylvania Ave Limited
- Buses will operate via 4th St and 6th St between Massachusetts Ave, NW and Pennsylvania Ave, SE, Massachusetts Ave, NE, and E St, NW between Metro Center and Eastern Market. At the western end of the route, during the detour, buses will begin and end service at Metro Center.
What to Expect
- Buses will serve all stops along the detour.
- Westbound D10 buses will display “Foggy Bottom” on the headsign.
- Customers may experience delays due to congestion and event related street closures around the National Mall.
- Additional service adjustments or detours may occur throughout the summer due to evolving event plans.
