DDOT Construction Project on Connecticut Ave Underpass Lanes

Beginning on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 buses will detour due to the DDOT construction project on the underpass lanes of Connecticut Ave between Dupont Cir and Q St, NW. Please allow additional travel time and avoid the area if possible. Please sign up for Metro Alerts for service information.  

During the detour, customers transferring to or from the Red Line at Dupont Circle Station may use the south/19th Street entrance instead of the north/Q Street entrance. Alternative stops are on New Hampshire Ave at 20th St (stop 1003955) and N St (stop 1002971), one block west for Route D74 customers; and on 19th St at N St (stop 1004016) for Route D96 customers. 

In addition, buses will serve stops along Massachusetts Ave NW between Florida Ave and Dupont Circle (D74 and D96) or along Florida Ave NW at Decatur Pl/Phelps Pl (D74 only).

The following routes will detour: 

D74 Rhode Island Ave-Foggy Bottom eastbound towards Rhode Island Ave 

• Buses begin detouring on New Hampshire Ave, NW at 20th St, resuming regular route on Connecticut Ave, NW at Florida Ave. 

D74 Rhode Island Ave-Foggy Bottom westbound towards Potomac Park 

• Buses begin detouring on Connecticut Ave, NW at Florida Ave, resuming regular route on New Hampshire Ave, NW at 20th St. 

D96 Massachusetts Ave-Bethesda northbound towards Bethesda 

• No detour required. 

D96 Massachusetts Ave-Bethesda southbound towards Potomac Park 

• Buses begin detouring on Q St, NW at Massachusetts Ave, resuming regular route on 19th St, NW at N St.
