Bus Stop Relocation for A1X: East Glebe Road & Swann Avenue
Updated: 5/15/2026
Advisory Effective: May 11, 2026 – May 22, 2026
Effective with the start of service on Monday, May 11, the Route 1 Transitway between East Glebe Road and Swann Avenue will be closed to replace failing concrete pavement. The work will require detours for Route A1X in both directions and because of this work, two transitway stations will be closed: Swann Avenue (northbound) and East Glebe Road (southbound). The transitway is scheduled to reopen on Friday, May 22.
Northbound
From the Route 1 Transitway at Swann Avenue, buses will merge to northbound Richmond Highway (US 1) and continue to East Glebe Road where they will resume regular routing to Pentagon City.
Temporary Bus Stop
The northbound transitway station at Swann Avenue (Stop ID 4001062) will be closed. Customers will be directed to a temporary bus stop on Richmond Highway, pictured below:
Southbound
From East Glebe Road at Richmond Highway, buses will turn south on Richmond Highway, not entering the transitway, and continue to Swann Avenue where buses will enter the transitway to resume regular southbound routing to Braddock Rd Metro Rail Station.
Temporary Bus Stop
The southbound transitway station at East Glebe Road (Stop ID 4001064) will be closed. Customers will be directed to an alternative, existing bus stop on East Glebe Road + Richmond Highway (Stop ID 4001047) pictured below.
