Summer 2026 Red Line Major Construction

During the summer of 2026, we will close four stations on the Red line between July and September. 

This will enable the construction of second mezzanine at Bethesda station to integrate the MTA Purple Line

Other work during this closure:

  • Rehabilitate the platform at Grosvenor-Strathmore by replacing slab edges and tiles, adding new lighting, and modifying drainage
  • Replace the raised railway across Rockville Pike between Grosvenor-Strathmore and Medical Center
