Weekly Pass - purchase methods

Save time and money with a 7-Day Metro Bus + Regional Partners Pass, designed for riders who depend on the bus throughout the week. 

Valid for 7 consecutive days of unlimited Metro Bus, Arlington Transit (ART), and Fairfax Connector rides (up to $2.25 per ride).

One purchase makes everyday travel simpler, more predictable, and budget-friendly.

Purchase options

Choose the purchase method that works best for you.

Fare vending machine

Customers without a Smart Trip card:

  1. Select “Purchase Pass” on the fare vending machine (Option A)
  2. Choose “7-Day Passes”
  3. Pick “7 Day REGL Bus Pass” (which is the 7-Day Regional Bus Pass)
  4. Decide on quantity: each pass is $13.50, and each new Smart Card is +$2 ($15.50 total for a new card + pass)
  5. Follow the machine prompts to complete your purchase and collect your new card
  6. Enjoy your rides! (Your pass is activated on first use, not the date of purchase)

Customers with a Smart Trip card or Smart Trip mobile

  1. Tap your card or phone to the reader on the fare vending machine
  2. Select “Purchase Pass” 
  3. Choose “7-Day Passes”
  4. Pick “7 Day REGL Bus Pass” (which is the 7-Day Regional Bus Pass)
  5. Follow the prompts to complete your purchase and collect your new card
  6. Enjoy your rides! (Your pass is activated on first use, not the date of purchase)

Customer convenience upgrades: At several locations around the system, fare machines have been relocated closer to bus loops at stations so that they are more accessible for customers. This includes Anacostia, Fort Totten, Silver Spring, North Bethesda, Pentagon, and New Carrolton.

Google Wallet

  1. Open Google Wallet and navigate to your Smart Trip card
  2. Select “Add money or pass” and then select “Pass”
  3. Pick “Metro Bus” and then “7-Day Regional Bus Pass” ($13.50)
  4. Follow the prompts to complete your purchase
  5. Enjoy your rides! (Your pass is activated on first use, not the date of purchase)

Apple Wallet 

  1. Log in to the Smart Trip mobile app
  2. Select the card you’d like to load the pass onto (for the fastest load, choose the card stored in the wallet of your device)
  3. Choose “Add Passes or Stored Value”
  4. Pick “7-Day Regional Bus Pass” Select the option of whether you’d like to enable Auto Reload of the pass
  5. Enter your payment method (or use Apple Pay) and complete your purchase
  6. Enjoy your rides! (Your pass is activated on first use, not the date of purchase)
