Deanwood
Temporary art installation
Metro is launching a new temporary public art project at Deanwood Metro Rail Station and invites both artists and community members to help shape the future artwork.
Through this project, Metro will transform two station passageways with a large-scale temporary art installation that celebrates the history, culture, creativity, and people of Deanwood. The project is part of Metro's ongoing commitment to enhancing public spaces and creating meaningful arts experiences throughout the transit system.
About the Project
Located in Northeast Washington, DC, Deanwood is one of the city's most historic and culturally significant neighborhoods. Home to generations of residents, community leaders, artists, and changemakers, Deanwood has a rich legacy that continues to shape the community today.
Metro is seeking an artist to create original artwork for two pedestrian passageways inside Deanwood Metro Rail Station. The final designs will be printed and installed as large-scale vinyl wall applications, creating a vibrant and welcoming experience for customers traveling through the station.
The selected artist will develop artwork that reflects the character of Deanwood, celebrates community identity, and enhances the station environment for residents, visitors, and Metro customers.
