Public Comment for Board Meetings
The Metro Board of Directors welcomes public comment at meetings of the Board. You can provide comments in person, or in advance via an audio or video message.
Public comments must be submitted by 9:00 a.m. on the Wednesday prior to a scheduled Board meeting.
Providing comments in person
Metro Board of Directors meetings are conducted in the Board Room at Metro Headquarters.
To provide comment in person, you must sign up at the speaker registration table outside the entrance to the room before the meeting begins. You will have two minutes to provide comments. Additional time will be provided for translation or interpretation, if required.
Written comments
Send your written comments to speak@wmata.com. Please keep your comments concise.
Audio and video comments
Call us at 202-962-1901 to record an audio comment. Or, record a voice memo or a video on your phone and email it to speak@wmata.com. Please keep your recording below two minutes; include your name and tell us where you live (e.g., District of Columbia; Montgomery County, Maryland; etc.).
What we will do with your comments
At the meeting, public comments will be presented in the order they are received. Written comments will be read aloud, and recorded comments will be replayed. Board members may take action on your comments, e.g., by adding items to a future meeting agenda or by referring them to the General Manager or another WMATA department for investigation or follow-up. At the discretion of the Board Chair, the public comment period will be limited to 10 minutes, and remaining comments remaining at the end of this period will be summarized.
Public comments will be posted on our website by the next business day following the meeting.
Comments we can’t accept
Comments with derogatory, threatening or discriminatory language will not be used. The Board also cannot accept comments related to individual employee personnel issues, claims against Metro, or disputes concerning the award or administration of specific contracts.
