Metro and Capital Bikeshare

Metro and Capital Bikeshare are pleased to offer free bike rides to eligible Metro customers on the regional bikeshare system. Create a mobile Smart Trip card through the end of the promotional period and you can earn ten free 45-minute classic bike rides on any one of Capital Bikeshare's 5,000+ bikes across 650 docking stations in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Existing mobile Smart Trip users can also get in on the deal. The rides are available for 30 days after signing up, and you can redeem your free bike ride 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Pay (Android)

Set up your Apple Wallet (iPhone) or Google Pay (Android) before adding your mobile Smart Trip, then sign up for the Capital Bikeshare promotional offer. Once sign-up completes, your Capital Bikeshare or Lyft account will be credited with ten free 45-minute classic bike rides within a few days.

During the promotional period, Capital Bikeshare is offering qualified Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority ("WMATA") SmarTrip card holders ten free 45-minute classic Capital Bikeshare rides. Qualification requires a mobile SmarTrip card, completion of an online program sign-up form, and consent to WMATA sharing with Lyft Bikes and Scooters LLC ("Lyft") the phone number you provided to WMATA at sign-up which will facilitate distribution of the promotional offer to the account linked to that phone number. Redemption requires a Capital Bikeshare or Lyft account. Mobile SmarTrip cards are available both on Apple iPhone and Android platforms. Promotional offer available only to customers residing in the following jurisdictions: Washington, DC; Arlington, VA; Alexandria, VA; Montgomery County, MD; Prince George's County, MD; Fairfax County, VA; and the City of Falls Church, VA. Phone numbers provided to WMATA at promotional sign-up will be securely shared with Lyft to issue the ride credits to the Capital Bikeshare or Lyft account linked to that phone within 5 business days. Promotional offer availability begins upon, and expires 30 days after, receipt of SMS/text message communication from Capital Bikeshare regarding offer activation. During the promotional period, only one promotional offer can be redeemed for each SmarTrip account. Promotional offer does not provide additional benefits to Capital Bikeshare users with annual membership.

WMATA reserves the right to terminate, cancel, modify, or suspend the offer at any time for any or no reason in WMATA's sole discretion without prior notice or liability to you. This offer may not be combined with any other offers. This offer is non-refundable, non-transferrable, and may not be resold or redeemed for cash. Violation of these terms may lead to the offer being invalidated. This offer is void where prohibited. Participation in this offer requires acknowledging the SmarTrip Terms and Conditions and the Capital Bikeshare Bicycle Rental Agreement. WMATA is not responsible for errors or delays in the processing of any Capital Bikeshare promotional offer. The promotional offer applies only to 45-minute classic Capital Bikeshare rides; overages, e-bikes, taxes, and out-of-hub fees will be charged separately.

This offer shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia without regard to its choice of law provisions, except that in the case of any direct and irreconcilable conflict between Commonwealth of Virginia law and the WMATA Compact, the Compact shall prevail. Each party submits to the sole and exclusive jurisdiction of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Alexandria Division.
