Airport connections

Skip the traffic, parking hassles, and expensive rideshares. Getting to and from the airport is easy and reliable with Metro.

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)

Use Metro's Yellow Line or Blue Line to access DCA. It's closer to the airport than the parking lots.

If travelling from the airport, follow signs to the rail station via the covered walkways.

Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)

Use Metro's Silver Line to access IAD. 

The walk to and from the train station to the main airport terminal is about 600 feet and takes around 7 - 8 minutes.

Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI)

Two excellent travel options are available through Metro and regional rail providers.

Option one

1. Use Metro's Red Line to access Union Station.
2. Follow the signs for Amtrak/MARC trains inside the station.
3. Buy a ticket for either the MARC Penn Line train northbound or Amtrak northbound to BWI Rail Station.
4. Take the free shuttle to the airport terminal; it runs 24/7.

Option two

1. Use Metro's Orange Line or Silver Line to access the New Carrollton station (parking is also available).
2. Follow the signs for Amtrak/MARC trains inside the station.
3. Buy a ticket for either the MARC Penn Line train northbound or Amtrak northbound to BWI Rail Station. 
4. Take the free shuttle to the airport terminal; it runs 24/7.

Regional rail connections

Metro provides convenient connections to regional rail services across the Washington, D.C. area, extending transit access throughout the region.

Union Station (Metro)

Union Station, on Metro's Red Line, is a major transfer hub connecting Metro Rail, Amtrak, MARC, VRE, intercity buses (Greyhound, FlixBus, Megabus, etc.), and local Metro Bus services.

New Carrollton station (Metro)

New Carrollton, on Metro's Orange Line and Silver Line, is a major transfer station for Metro Rail, Amtrak, and MARC, providing convenient rail connections to BWI Airport.

Alexandria Union Station (Non-Metro)

Alexandria Union Station (different from Metro's Union Station in Washington, D.C.) is served by Amtrak and VRE.

To get to and from Alexandria Union Station, use Metro's Yellow Line or Blue Line, and exit at King St-Old Town station. The walk to and from the two stations is about 750 feet and takes around 10 minutes.
