Metro discontinues eight P12 bus stops after cease-and-desist demand from property owner

Metro will no longer service eight P12 bus stops in Prince George’s County due to a cease-and-desist demand letter from the Forest Hill Apartments Complex property owner.
For approximately 50 years, Metro has been using the P12 route that includes four bus stops between Southern Avenue and Wheeler Hills Road located within the Forest Hill Apartment Complex in Oxon Hill, Maryland.
As a result of the Forest Hill Apartment Complex property owner’s demand, Metro will stop servicing the four bus stops located within the Forest Hill Apartment Complexandfour bus stops on Wheeler Hills Road, which will no longer be accessible without going through the Forest Hill property.
These stops will be discontinued beginning Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025.
This change will affect approximately 150 weekday customers who board and exit at these stops, including Forest Hill Apartment residents and Homes at Oxon Hill Senior Apartments residents.
Customers will still be able to board the bus at nearby stops at the following locations:
- Southern Ave. and United Medical Center
- Southern Ave. and 13 St.
- Wheeler Road and Vermillion Ave.
