Taking photos or video on Metro | WMATA
Actualizado: 5/16/2026
You’re welcome to take photos or video in Metro for personal use. You can take photos of yourself and your traveling companions (with their permission), of trains and buses, and of stations, platforms, and tracks.
Some rules apply:
- You must use a handheld camera; tripods are not allowed.
- Don’t take photos or video of other riders.
- Don’t take photos or video aboard a Metro Bus.
- Don’t ever enter any areas of Metro Rail stations or the Metro system where the public is not allowed, and follow any instructions from Metro employees or police.
If you’re taking photos or video for commercial use, you need permission in advance, and different rules apply.
