Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) Application
Metro encourages its riders, people with disabilities and/or older adults, to join the Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC). The AAC consists of 20 volunteers committed to helping Metro enhance the travel experience of people with disabilities and/or older adults on Metrobus, Metrorail, and MetroAccess.
Six members of the AAC represent the District of Columbia, six represent Maryland, six represent Virginia, and two members serve at-large. The residents of District of Columbia, Maryland (Montgomery County and Prince George’s County), and Virginia (Arlington County, Fairfax County, Loudoun County, City of Alexandria, City of Falls Church, or Fairfax City) are welcome to apply so that your application will be on file when openings arise. Metro will keep your application on file for one year after it is submitted.
To qualify, prospective members must be riders of Metrobus, Metrorail, and/or MetroAccess. Members of the AAC cannot be Metro employees, contractors, or elected officials. All AAC positions are unpaid volunteer positions.
Metro's Board of Directors appoints candidates that represent a cross-section of customers with disabilities and/or older adults and reflect a broad representation of people from different geographical locations in Metro's service area. The appointed members are required to attend the full committee and a subcommittee meeting each month. The interested candidates are highly encouraged to attend the virtual AAC meetings prior to joining the Committee.
Interested candidates may download the online fillable/printable AAC membership application, or call the Office of ADA Policy and Planning | Systemwide Accessibility, at 202-962-1100 to request an application form.
Metro accepts online applications. Completed applications may be emailed to MetroAACChair@wmata.com, or mailed to WMATA, Office of ADA Policy and Planning | Systemwide Accessibility, Attn: Accessibility Advisory Committee, 4100 Garden City Drive, 603-01-C, Hyattsville, MD 20785.
