Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or possession of a general equivalency diploma (GED)
- Experience: Level D
- Two years as a garage mechanic or related experience
The following vocational/technical training can be substituted for two years of full-time work experience at all levels:
- Three years high school mechanical training
- Two years tech school mechanical training; OR, two years college mechanical training
And any of the following:
- One current ASE certification in one field: transit bus, automotive, medium/heavy truck, or school bus
- Military Occupational Skills Course certifications in a related field
- Associate's degree in Automotive Technology
- Automotive manufacturer-specific certifications
- Two years of vocational training in transit bus, automotive, medium/heavy truck, or school bus maintenance from an accredited school recognized by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges
